Grow Ministries would like to invite participants from each District of the LCA / NZ to be involved in sharing their voice on issues that our church is facing prior to the 2018 National Convention of Synod.
Our aim is to gather a group of young people aged 16-20 year from Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide during the April school holidays, Thursday 12 April – Sunday 15 April, 2018.
Once there, the young people will discuss a variety of issues of facing the church at the current time and other topics of interest. We will also learn about the function of the General Convention of Synod.
Do you know a young person that you believe could contribute passionately to this forum? Please encourage them to contact your local LCA District office to nominate. Nominations are to be returned by close of business Monday 26 February 2018.
While this is a Grow Ministries funded initiative, we would ask the individual, their congregation or District (or a combination of these) to contribute $200 per participant to assist us in covering the travel, accommodation and venue hire costs.
Participants from 2015 tell us….
Would you recommend the NYF18 to others and why?
I would definitely recommend NYF18 as it is a fantastic experience for a number of reasons. First and foremost it is a brilliant opportunity to study God’s word at a deeper level and to develop more of an understanding around why we as Christians believe the things that we stand for.
Secondly, you get to meet a group of people that are your age, in the same church, in the same faith and with the same passion and desire to learn more about God and that to me is one of the greatest things ever!
I met one of my most best friends at NYF15. Attending this Forum has the potential for you to develop life long friendships with other brothers and sisters in Christ. And honestly it is totally awesome. (Livi)
Did your participation in the NYF15 have an effect on your journey with your congregation?
The National Youth forum gave me an insight into the larger picture of the Lutheran Church of Australia, its history, processes and doctrinal understanding. This meant that back at my home congregation, I began serving with more purpose, knowing that I was part of a national movement of young people who want to see our church step boldly into the future, reaching people with the unchanging truths of the Gospel. (Matthew)
Encourage a young person you know to join us this year at the NYF18 today!
